It struck me the other day that the world of Star Trek may be "based on" the tendency of the rate of profit to fall causing the final capitalist breakdown. In the Star Trek universe, to my knowledge (I grew up watching them all but was young) work is essentially voluntary, the same for joining Star Fleet, because replicators and other technology has made the need for human labor absolute. This would be the ultimate breakdown of the capitalist mode of production, would it not? I'm just still trying to understanding TRPF as I read Grossman and begin on Vol II and III of Capital :) Tristan ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: [email protected] Set your options at: http://greenhouse.economics.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
