In the context of an election year, this is really a terribly significant statement by a former Democratic president about an incumbent Democratic president. Carter's ethics seem to have moved him to the left of those radicals who deal exclusively in the currency of apologetics for Obama's Bushiness.
While by no means having gone as far as Bill Moyers, Carter has done himself proud on this as well as his writings on Israeli apartheid.
