The journal, SOCIALISM AND DEMOCRACY is looking for someone to review Joseph Vargas's, HELL'S KITCHEN AND THE BATTLE FOR URBAN SPACE IN NYC , just published by MR Press. This is a historical study of the Progressive Reform Movement in NYC from 1894-1914 in the Hell's Kitchen area of New York. The author uses Henri Lefebvre's theory of the production of space and recent work in urban geography to understand class struggle in a concrete historical and global context.
