The statement from ISO members dissenting form the position published in their (Socialist Worker) paper says: "We however, *do not* need to relinquish the right to challenge and in some circumstances even work to BAN racism like *Charlie Hebdo*'s from being published through legitimate means, such as political organizing and public pressure. To us, organizing for laws protecting Muslims from hate speech can and should be a part of a broader fight against Islamophobia. . ." Yikes. Calling for the French capitalist state to ban stuff in Charlie Hebdo is a pretty awful position to take. I didn't entirely agree with the ISO statement in their paper, but it was miles and miles better than the critique.
