Written in 1998, and quite a bit has changed since then, but much also stays the same. Interestingly, in the budget just before this article was written, women with children over 14 were expected to seek full-time work and women with children 6-14 were to seek part-time work. In this year's budget, women with children over 3 are now expected to seek paid employment. Doesn't seem that long ago that the dominant capitalist ideology was that women with children who went to work outside the home were bad mothers!!!
