I am typing this with one finger at the airport. I have been on the road
for over a month (seems longer) and I haven't had time or regular internet
access to put in a proper post. But the latest Roberts piece on Venezuela
did call for a comment. It struck me as if he had given it away and was
waiting for the "inevitable" military coup. This goes for me to the heart
of my disagreements with Roberts, brilliant and all that he is. It seems
to me that there is streak of determinism in his approach. Probably this
is due to his adherence to the need to isolate a LAW that will enable him
to predict. There is I think, a tendency in this approach to forget that
all laws are tendencies that operate in open systems(see Bhaskar).

in any case the fate of the Bolivarian Revolution will be decided in
struggle and the price of commodities will be only one factor in
determining the outcome. Will try and return to this if there is any
interest.

comradely

Gary
