A former leader of the Conservative party, Lord Howard, has threatened a Thatcher style war on Spain over the future of Gibraltar as Brexit kicks into gear. Gibraltar's economy is tied totally to the EU and as a consequence it voted 95% to remain in Europe. What happens next is anyone's guess. Northern Ireland, Scotland, London and Gibraltar see their future in Europe but they are leaving. It would be wrong to simply dismiss Howard's evocation of Thatcher as nonsense.
