The Forbes article criticizing the HBO series "Chernobyl" was written by

I was shocked by the revelation that the immersion of nuclear fuel into
the flooded basement of Chernobyl could have caused a blast that would
have wiped out half of Europe, leaving it uninhabitable for 500,000
years. It seemed so close to apocalyptic that I checked the next to see
if such a risk existed.
It did: https://www.thejournal.ie/chernobyl-basement-water-2742056-Apr2016/
As soon as I find the time, I plan to read Kate Brown's "Manual for
Survival: A Chernobyl Guide to the Future" and Adam Higganbotham's
"Midnight in Chernobyl" that reflect the POV of the HBO series in terms
of the risks. That being said, the man who made the film ironically
believes that nukes should be considered an "alternative" energy source
and only believes that the risks have something to do with Soviet bumbling.
Keep in mind that this is going to be an issue for us to deal with. Both
Jacobin and Verso publish Leigh Phillips, an ecomodernist who worked on
one of Shellenberger's publications.
