i'm used to "rugged" individualism and ring-wing ideological positions and the
general revisionism of clint eastwood's movies (as well as their affectiveness,
thoughtfulness and lack of hollywood blam and blah)... but the *fictional*
(according to wikipedia) conceit of a poem with which mandela inspires the
springboks to triumph as rugby, thus bolstering post-apartheid south african
integration (... a poem that he - mandela - clung onto during his darkest days
at robben island), and this poem - quoted and fetishised throughout - infact
the same poem timothy mcvie quoted prior to his execution... any thoughts on
eastwood's gambit? is the mcvie connection generally known in north america?
