I fully agree with Gary´s sensible considerations. There is an "extended Balkans", spanning from Poland to the Chinese border of the former fSU, and from Central Asia to the Gulf and beyond. Imperialism has swamped itself in a strong (but unavoidable) sin of hybris after 1990.
