My understanding of it is not that data supporting global warming was fabricated but rather, as evidenced through certain emails, those who questioned that, or were viewed as questioning it, were subjected to derision and discussion about harassing them. Surely that's a question involving academic freedom and individual rights, but not anything that goes to the heart of the evidence supporting global warming.
