Interestingly, Marx wrote in the 1880s that the "creation of artificial living cells" would be the next, and determining step, in showing once and for all that "life originated out of natural phenomenon, for it is always problematic to refer to "unknown causes". Does the announcement that an American team has managed to create artificial DNA and get it to reproduce within a cell, strengthen Marx's view that such an achievement would bring conclusive evidence that life is a phenomenon that emerges from inorganic chemistry ? ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: [email protected] Set your options at: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
