NPR (National Public Radio) did quite a bit of hatchet work on this story the other day. It was quite dismissive of the tactic as something done merely for show...before bowing before the inevitable cuts that "have to be made." I must confess that I find it amusing that anyone in Europe is holding up what's happened in the U.S. as an example for much of anything.
