I was heartened to see this contribution from Carrol. I am glad to
acknowledge that I was too harsh in my rejoinder, "aw 'shucks'".
I can certainly agree with the sentiment that "how to 'treat' women" is an
integral part of building a revolutionary movement in the U.S. I would
expect it clear to most of us that such an integration of women's rights
includes making the connection that opposing the death penalty for an
Iranian woman or, for that matter, the use of rape as a military and
political weapon by oppressor governments would be both a point of
solidarity for women and men "in the u.s." but would also raise the bar for
all, especially feminists, in comprehending the revolutionary implications
of learning "how to 'treat' women."
