I agree. What was interesting was that Stewart didn't have to work that hard at it. Kaine was saying things that soothed his party bosses and bore no relationship to a political campaign. It wasn't designed to convince anybody but those already convinced. Like most of us, I have a gut level scorn for those pandering reactionaries in the GOP and a predisposition to defend Obama from their racial attacks. Listening to Kaine repeat that it was all a question of advertising to mobilize the base convinced me that the arrogant scorn Democrats have for any progressive principles have more than earned them a sound drubbing. And I'm no longer convinced that a Republican controlled Congress could be in the least worst for the working class than having these arrogant, inept corporate flunkies and dunderheads in charge.
