There's always an up and coming crop of younger people encountering radical ideas and testing the waters. The issue here is very much whether they'll stick with it for any period of time. Americans tend to be a particularly impatient lot. And they have little clear idea of the amount of effort it will take to change the weightiest, most leaden empire in human history. This isn't just an old man griping about them youngsters who are playing on the front lawn.... When I was young, it always amazed me that people thought the empire would not strike back...and that change would happen in a kind of rational and straightforward and timely way.... Even in socialist organizations, I remember people saying things like, "I'm giving this whole revolution thing two or three years...."
