In connection to the persecutions against the «Bulgarian Left» the following protest-petition was submitted to the Embassy of Bulgaria in Greece.

According to the press, on 28th February, police forces burst into the central offices of the Bulgarian Agrarian Popular Union «Alexandr Stamboliiski», in Sofia and tried to close down its offices.

That event took place a day after the announcement of the foundation of the Political Union «Bulgarian Left», in which participate: the Bulgarian Agrarian Popular Union «Alexandr Stamboliiski», the Bulgarian Communist Party «Georgi Dimitrov», the political club «Ecoglasnost», the ideological union «Marxist Platform» in the Bulgarian Socialist Party.

We consider that action, if it is confirmed, unthinkable. It goes after movements and personalities well known and respected in our country for their action, in favour of peace, friendship and co-operation between the peoples of our countries.

We ask for the immediate recall of the arbitrary actions and the punishment of the responsibles.

We consider that incident very serious, especially on the period when the instability in the Balkan area is increasing. Nobody in the Balkans and Europe can remain unconcerned.
