Why do people want to silence Adolph Reed, Jr. to begin with?
For the fourth time, Afrosoc was not interested in silencing him. They would have preferred a debate with someone like Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor but clearly the organizers were only interested in giving him the same kind of exclusive platform he has gotten all along on Jacobin and many other print and electronic media. Once they saw that no such debate was the offing, they were obviously going to express their views on his Zoom session as was their right as DSA members. He decided that it wasn't worth the trouble and blew the appearance off.
I realize that I am talking to someone with zero interest in citations, but if you can find the sentence in the Afrosoc document that says anything about them wanting the event cancelled, I'll eat my hat.
