Dan, I read somewhere, i think it was in My Life, that he applied for a visa for the Netherlands when he stayed at Prinkipo, which was discussed in Dutch parlement but rejected. He could have ended up here in the polder. I also remember a fragment in Deutscher that he was approached in Mexico by someone for emigration to Israel. He took care to distance himself from that idea. Tijuana is certainly a place at the border that suits outcasts. I live at the border also.
