Can anyone recommend good Marxist analysis of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict? In
some ways it reminds me of the Israel-Palestine conflict in terms of an
infinite regress of “original” claims to the land. I live in Los Angeles County
so there is a larger Armenian community here coloring my view of the situation.
To read the mainstream press it sounds like the Azerbaijani people have a
pretty compelling claim to a right to return (similar to Palestinians). The
Armenian diaspora are leaning back on the genocide of their people as their
claim to stay. We’re also dealing with several authoritarian governments
(Russia, Turkey, US) who have no regard for the people’s self-determination
(Azerbainani, Armenian, or otherwise)? Is there a “right” answer here?
