A recent book that is an excellent introduction is A People's Guide to Capitalism: An Introduction to Marxist Economics by Hadas Thier and published by Haymarket. Each chapter ends with a summary, and there are useful sidebars such as critiques of marginal utility theory, Bitcoin uses, the subprime mortgage crisis, etc.
