Philistinism veering toward authoritarianism. There is actually an argument in here about what the author simply calls the “supposed evils of Communist and socialist literature,” as if people didn’t risk their lives to be able to stop writing that crap.

Right. We are really in danger of the proletarian novel becoming enforced by the state. Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" is approaching nigh. God bless Mr. Williams and Quillette for their muscular resistance.
