The analogy with the Weimar Republic--or the Roman republic--is only that the insurrections that break out reveal deep crises of legitimacy in the republican systems being challenged and may presage their collapse, usually into some form of anti-republicanism (which is of course also antidemocratic). To see what comes next in the US, IMO, one has to look at figures like Hawley and Carlson as well as the broader alignment of political forces among the masses.
As the sudden repentance of Trump-loving business executives demonstrates, these assholes will say anything for a billion bucks.
