Everyone in the Trumpy mob on the scene seems to have been acting out some
naive fantasy, including "X" and co. But worth watching as much as you can
stand, as it definitely puts you in the thick of it (so to speak).

I talked to at least one amiable idiot in Thomas Circle the night before who
asked me where he could find a "nice bar where he could talk to th'fellers."
No help there--all the bars in that area belong to simpering asswipes of the
fraudulent liberal class--far more deplorable as a group than this man seemed
to be.  He wouldn't have been welcome and probably couldn't have afforded the
swingeing prices.

I couldn't help liking this man.  I don't think on the whole that he was
looking for a gay bar full of nice "fellers," though one never knows.  Anyway
perhaps the majority of the spear-carriers in this opera were of this gullible
but essentially harmless type.

We now know what happened to the probably not very likeable Ashli Bobbitt--shot
while trying to kick down the door to the Speakers Lobby. It's a little hard to
think this is a violation of her civil rights under the circumstances.
Furthermore, the event put an end to that particular assault and may have
signaled the (inevitable) turning of the tide against the occupiers as armed
reinforcements for the police started to arrive.

Of course, if various colluders hadn't both underestimated the extent of what
the Trumpies would get up to and deliberately obstructed provision of the kind
of force routinely invoked against peaceful BLM protesters, there might have
been no breach and perhaps nobody would have been shot with  live ammo.

Now we now go to what some are (not very intelligently) calling an "anti-Trump
police state"--Biden playing the Law and Order card as his political ace so to
speak, though he also has a shot at possible success on the pandemic front,
which might give a more "liberal" arrow to his essentially reactionary bow.

Biden and Harris are a pair of law and order assholes who I still think run the
risk of building up a national policing infrastructure that might l just about
be complete when the Republicans take over again, thus creating machinery for a
police state that the Republicans could never assemble on their own.

I think the left should vigorously protest:

a) Any new "anti-terrorist" legislation or new "sedition" laws at all;
b) Any attempt to sneak in a national localized super police force under the
rubric of police reform.  TRUMP blazed the way with his Border Patrol abortion.
The "liberals" could put a smiley face on this, call it something else, cut
some of the aid now going to local SWAT teams and look like reformers while
laying the policing groundwork for at least a Bonapartist dictatorship--by the
Republicans or a newly resurgent popular rightwing movement.

Biden won't be a dictator and most of the Capitol mob don't have the real nazi
stuff any more than Trump.  But despite hopeful signs of fracture in the
rightwing movement in recent days--apparent discord between the Q fantasists
and the more realistic and fascist-like others on the far Trumpy fringe, for
example--I still fear what a Hawley equivalent could do with the new laws and
new forces that Biden will stupidly try to gin up before he fails abjectly and
is swept from office or merely dies of old age and heartbreak.
