What is people's take on U.S. troops occupying Washington DC? During the Summer, even discussion of the national guard being deployed led to shrieks of "Fascism!" and to the resignation of a New York Times editor who published an op-ed suggesting it. The city is under martial law, but the Times seems to be OK with that.
