So sorry to hear what happened at U. Mass when Michael was there --- I do think that on at least one level, the U Mass folks did contribute to the struggle --- forming and supporting the Center for Popular Economics (initially created in 1979)--- I don't think that elitist behavior is evidence of the "badness" of the SSA approach or the lack of elitist behavior on the part of Paul and Harry (I agree they were --- to use a technical term "real mensches") -- and John Foster and Michael as well --- as evidence for the "goodness" of the stagnation school.
(And by the way, I think the presence of both approaches is GOOD for the vigorous development of "Marxian economics" --- because both point to the irrationality of capitalism.)
