Intellectual montage = "crafty editing". Again, not understanding something doesn't make it incoherent or sensationalistic. I don't agree with Curtis on every point and yes his politics are not cookie-cutter Marxist, but I don't have to agree get it. Lastly a film's message is not contained within the filmmaker. Filmmaker's are often the LAST folks to listen to about their films and they do not have final say over how we interpret the film. Curtis's films are clearly NOT journalism, no matter what he says. Remember, Riefenstahl, denied Triumph of the Will was propaganda. Should we believe her? Perhaps the problem is that he is vastly more popular than the "cultural critics" and their hamfisted reviews?
