Chicago is a ticking ecological time bomb. Years ago, I got a big laugh
out of William Cronin's "Nature's Metropolis: Chicago and the Great
West" that used the term ecology so broadly that the stockyards fell
under that rubric. I have a few remarks about Cronon here
