If I lived in the States and were approached by liberals in the Democratic
Party, trade unions, BIPOC, LBGTQ, women’s and other mass movements about
working together to reform the undemocratic Electoral College and the Supreme
Court and to defend existing democratic rights against attack by the far right,
I would readily join them.

Their fears about violent vigilantism may or may not be exaggerated, but I
accept them as genuinely felt, as expressed in the article, rather than some
nefarious plot to frighten leftists into voting for Biden. In any case, the
Marxist left has always participated in struggles for democratic rights even
though such struggles have invariably been channeled into electoral politics
benefitting reformist parties.

Whether to follow the masses into support for these parties against the parties
to their right has always been a separate question which has historically
bedevilled and divided the far left, as we've again seen on this list.
