I don't know if Michael Roberts believes in the theory of permanent/uninterrupted revolution, but he waltzes up to the issue, but never deals with it directly. The other and related issue that he never deals with is that of land ownership, which is always central in underdeveloped countries.

The reason is that Maduro cannot get elected so he has to indulge in it. And the reason for that is the disastrous situation in Venezuela. We don't have to support US imperialism nor the pro-US candidates to recognize that. And as my two articles above, especially the book review of why Chavismo failed, show, it wasn't simply the role of US imperialism that caused the disaster in Venezuela. Of course, I expect all sorts of howls from the campists now, but that is to be expected.
