I am not sure what Maduro means by "territorial socialism", but I think he is probably referring to the communes, which Chavez gave great importance to.
Maduro is encouraging the formation of communes. Some examples: https://venezuelanalysis.com/analysis/the-dream-of-a-thing-refounding-the-economy-of-a-venezuelan-commune/ https://venezuelanalysis.com/interviews/born-to-win-with-chavez-a-women-led-commune-in-the-venezuelan-llanos/ https://venezuelanalysis.com/interviews/the-commune-a-living-tradition-for-pume-people-in-venezuela/ At the same time, Maduro has made concessions to private capital. These have been justified as being necessary in the context of the blockade. If the blockade was ended we would find out if this was the real reason or just an excuse. I have an open mind on this. In any case, we should campaign against the blockade because it causes severe harm to the Venezuelan people. One of the severe cases of this illness is exhibited by the r-r-revolutionary Party of Socialism and Liberation, which said on Aug. 2: "From its inception in 2007 by then-president Hugo Chavez, the PSUV has brought together a political coalition committed to upholding the Bolivarian Revolution as a process of peaceful transition to socialism in the 21st century." (emphasis added) PSL at https://www.liberationnews.org/the-bolivarian-revolution-lives-on-popular-democracy-in-venezuela/ At least PSL's phrases are familiar from the lexicon of peaceful transition à la Eduard Bernstein. Now try to make sense of Maduro's social-babble: “Chávez spoke a great deal about territorial socialism. I think it is a great contribution to the theory of world socialism, to economic socialism.” In this regard, he pointed out that in Venezuela “there is a transition to socialism, a socialism with Bolivarian, Christian, and deeply democratic values.” May 15, 2024 at https://orinocotribune.com/president-maduro-venezuela-is-transitioning-to-socialism/ -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
