Interestingly, I thought BOTH of them were "right" -- (or at least PARTIALLY right)
Patrick is talking about how the sub-imperialist BRICS are fitting right into the world imperialist system -- Woolf argues that the BRICS represent a "breakaway" from the imperial system centered on the US ---- Couldn't both be "right" for a time until the contradictions between BRICS and the US centered system become strong enough to cause a fracture? If in fact the two sides are incompatible, I think so far Patrick has the evidence on his side --- It was really different during the COLD WAR when for the most part the "communist bloc" was economically isolated from the US centered imperial system --- It is VERY UNFORTUNATE that the Soviet model proved incapable of truly competing with Capitalism --- and it's even more unfortunate the the Chinese --- blessed with a gigantic economy and skilled labor force were unwilling to continue on a path that was separate from the "world economy" --- Do the Chinese really think they can overturn the US role in the world --- Rick thinks they are already doing it --- I would like to see his evidence .... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
