The 1933 plot never got beyond the attempt to win over a military officer to 
lead, while 1898 coup was successful, mobilizing 2000 armed white supremacists 
to take control of the town, murder at least 60 African-Americans, theft of 
their victims' property, and appointing the members of the racist militia to 
what were  elected public offices.

1933 doesn't even rank as an "attempt."
