It is entirely fitting that New Left Review should carry this article which mourns the fall from power of a barbaric head of state who was responsible for torturing to death tens - probably hundreds - of thousands of "his" people. After all, NLR was the same journal which carried an entirely friendly interview with that turncoat Sara Wagenknecht who, after flirting with the AfD, went and founded her own party with the same "culture war" and anti-immigrant themes.
