There does seem to be an important difference between the Eisenhower farewell and that by Biden. So far as I know, Eisenhower's warning did not strike a loud chord among much of the population. To be sure, liberals have appropriated his remark ever since.
Today, though, a good chunk of the people are already upset about Trump's disdain for the niceties of capitalist democracy. Won't they hear Biden's warning and their discontent strengthened? It is not the personal character of the two, nor even their end-of-office reputations, at play here.
