I am not persuaded of the necessity for a new translation every fifty years. All translations have their shortcomings and when in doubt the serious reader must always go back to the original, even if one is not fluent in the language. Maybe especially if one is not fluent because consulting the original is a good way to learn at least a smidgen of German.
