With the crash of 2008, it was common to meet workers who lost big on the 
"investments" that the defined-contribution 401(k) setup more or less forces 
you into. They calculated how many more years they would need to work before 
they could afford to retire.

However you grade the job that the Fed and the Obama administration did in 
response to the crash – containing the real job and pay loss to some degree 
(although screwing the autoworkers bad) – the Trump regime and the Fed, under 
attack and rotting within, are likely to do much worse.
