'Venezuela accused the United States of committing “international piracy” after US authorities seized an oil tanker in the Caribbean, denouncing the action as part of a long-running US campaign to strip the country of its energy resources.' ________________________________ My comment: The US may be moving towards a total air and sea blockade of Venezuela. Trump has already warned civilian aircraft not to enter Venezuelan airspace. Now ship owners will be reluctant to trade with Venezuela, because of the danger of the ship being seized by the US military. The aim would be to deepen the economic crisis in Venezuela and cause severe hardship to the population, in the hope that this will facilitate the overthrow of the Maduro government. I wonder if China and Russia will be willing to defy the blockade? These days China is the main buyer of Venezuelan oil.
