There are real opportunities for Trotskyists in the next period to gain a mass base internationally as another abrupt turn to the left is unfolding before our very eyes. Fascism within Western Europe has reached its peak. In America the extreme right are discredited with Trump being president. It is speculated that the first human specsis appeared in Africa. Capitalism imposed by rising European Imperialism on Africa imposed great damage to their productive forces, Despite aspects of opportunist foreign policies of the Russian and Chinese Stalinist bureaucratic castes they are carrying out to a certain extent, in a distorted manner aspects of Permanent Revolution in undermining Imperialism’s ability to super-exploit this continent The mass protests sweeping throughout Africa called Generation Z is deepening this process of anti-Imperialist revolt. This revolt is threatening also their own domestic capitalists. It is historically ironic as Trotsky would argue today dialectically that Africa is one of the key epicenters undermining Imperialism. The essence of Marxism is to see the historic dialectic is things turning into its opposite. The greatest contribution to science after Karl Marx and Frederick Engels developed Dialectical Materialism was Trotsky’s law of the Uneven and Combined Development. This applies to Africa with the working class; Imperialism; the capitalists in Africa trying to have more breathing space in the Imperialist crutches; and the contradictory foreign policies of the Russian and Chinese Stalinists who rule their own workers’ states. Pat Brain (my father) who was a Trotskyist for 60 years in the Canadian and British states who died on January 25th 2017 who worked closely with Hansen from 1957 to the mid-1970s argued the revolutionary upheavals which brought down Muburak in Egypt during 2011 and the mass protests in Greece were bringing to surface the ancient citidals of the world back to life. He saw this as another historical irony. Hansen was Trotsky’s secretary and driver in Mexico City. Looking at YouTube this morning an actor playing Hansen in a 1967 biopic on Trotsky has been submitted. This drama should be translated into all languages. Hansen is regaining his influence in America with videos appearing on YouTube saying Hansen defended Trotsky’s politics to the very day he died. Four to five years ago I argued on my previous Trotskyist blogs that capitalist crisis was producing the worse crisis of class rule in 10,000 years when slave societies started appearing. At that time I made passing analysis of what Alan Tistchmark wrote on natural history of Europe that it was the changing environmental conditions which enabled class rule through surpluses. World capitalism cannot cope with the ecological damage. In another dialectical irony the thing which favoured class rule will be the things which leads to its final overthrow. The world needs more now than ever a world planned economy. Tonight I have also came across a very impressive video song on Communism on YouTube which was put on by the Workers Communist Party of Italy. This video clearly understands the Trotskyist conception of intersectionality of women fighting Sexism; the fight against racism and xenopobia under workers leadership. This was the Italian Trotskyist Opposition section which has now merged into the International Socialist League. The ITO came out of the FI between two world congresses from 1991 to 1995. In the past I knew some of their British supporters. Two major differences I had with this current was their adaptation to Stalinism on in downplaying the fight against national oppression of Bosnia by the Serbian Stalinist regime of Milosevic. Another difference was their sectarian attitude to layers of the FI majority leadership. Since Ernest Mandel died the ex-FI has gone over to the Imperialist camp. It is good that the Italian section of the ISL is calling for the rebuilding of the FI. Some of the ITO made a complete zizag on Kosovo in 1999 when they even supported the KLA when they fighting with NATO Imperialism in an attempted overthrow the workers’ state of Serbia. This was a major Stalinophobic mistake. It is important in Venezulea, particulary with the threat of American Imperialist attack to distinguish between pro-Imperialist forces and those who maybe to the left of Maduro.
