John Reimann, there is no comparison between calls for a boycott on Iran
today and BDS or anti-apartheid boycotts of South Africa. I would need to
think very carefully about a boycott that in effect supports existing
sanctions being enforced by the US and EU. That is nothing like the popular
boycott of Apartheid South Africa or BDS, neither of which were US
government initiatives, because South Africa then and Israel now were/are
US allies and the European countries toed the US line and do now.

when people like Mike Pompeo and Yoav Gallant are taking responsibility for
the protests it gives me pause for thought. From what I can tell from what
I am reading from leftists I know, "Stalin-aligned" comrades of mine are
simply declaring this a US plot to overthrow the last state in the region
to resist Israel. I'm not convinced of that. Anarchist and "Trot-aligned"
comrades are more inclined to support the protests. I sincerely hope that
you, John, are correct about this. I'm just not as certain as you, which is
why I started my original message by saying "I'm struggling to fully grasp
what is going on in Iran", rather than 'I love the "fascistic, theocratic
and corrupt Iran regime"' or similar.

Comradely,
John
