They are different in the sense that they have different, but overlapping, 
coalitions. They are the same in that finance and fossil capital belong to both 
and are decisive in their respective coalitions. That's ultimately why the US 
people cannot rely on the Democrats any more than Germans could trust 
Hindenberg in 1933. 

The largest left organization in the US agrees with John as does practically 
all of the US labor union leadership. So the US left does vote for the 
Democratic Party and, in that regard, all of John's wishes have come true. Just 
not among the majority of people who post to this tiny and politically 
inconsequential Marxist discussion list.
