Recently, the Progressive International has launched the initiative
/Nuestra América/ in order to build opposition across the Western
Hemisphere against Trump’s offensive to recolonise Latin America. More
than hundred current and former politicians, ambassadors, as well as
representatives of trade unions and popular organizations from 20
countries attended summit on 24/25 January in Colombia’s capital,
Bogotá, three weeks after the U.S. assault on Venezuela and the
kidnapping of its President. The conference received wholeheartedly
support by the Colombia’s government and was inaugurated by Foreign
Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio. Later, President Gustavo Petro
received a delegation of the conference.
