Fred: In part a speculative - and maybe ‘philosophical’ query: Is there a time (ever) to stand down? As the General here apparently did? I mean the counter-posed USA forces were overwhelming.
Perhaps one will be opposed by claims of what about Leningrad or Stalingrad - where forces were also - apparently overwhelming. But I do not think this was like Stalingrad where the state leadership was (in my opinion anyway) basically solid and had the confidence of the people. The Chavez “revolution” and then the Maduro “reforms” - had split the people into fragments, and moreover away from the leadership.
