On 23^rd February 1944, the Stalinist regime initiated the deportation
of the Chechens and Ingush under the wrong pretext that they would have
collaborated with the Nazi occupation. Nearly the whole population was
deported to Central Asia, about 1/3 of them died during this horrific
crime. This was one of the worst genocides of the 20^th century!
