There are the participants and the leadership. The participants are fighting against the Trump administration and this was the biggest opportunity to come together to do that. We have not succeeded in forming a coalition with an independent leadership as happened around 1970 in the US antiwar movement. Historical forces are against us. At the risk of sounding cynical and sectarian, I'd point out that this is a replay of the Women's March of the first Trump administration, which was the Democrats replay of the Republicans' "Tea Party" reaction to the first Black US President.
