I believe that Cuba has survived the six-decade US embargo by both the efforts
of its people and the support from other international revolutions - the USSR,
China, and Venezuela. I don't believe that "giving markets a more active role"
can defend Cuba from the belligerent super-power next to it. But I wonder if
Cuba has more control than J. Carranza assumes: The US people should view Cuba
as another US overseas military adventure, and majority of US citizens have
voted against overseas wars but instead got the worst kind of them. A
reinvigorated Cuba could help fuel an anti-imperialist movement in the US
against US imperialist adventures the Americas as well as western Asia.
