In order to change inheritance, indeed, you'll have to use “inherit”,
but use it inside a %flags section :)
For instance, in order to make your 'foo' component to inherit from
'sys', you'll have to add this block to 'foo':
<%flags>
inherit => 'sys'
</%flags>
