Wow, I must admit that I'm amazed to find this in the Mason book. No
wonder we've seen a drop off in new orders for Mason! I would like to
denounce that page in the book as pure FUD. (Sorry Dave)

While it is very likely that there are hosts providing mod_perl in an
insecure fashion, I would like to be made clear that SECURE shared
hosting with mod_perl IS POSSIBLE. At the risk of seeming like
self-promotion, I'd like to note that GrokThis.net has been providing
secure mod_perl hosting since 2002, and will continue to do it for the
foreseeable future!

We give every user their own Apache service running as their user. At
the cost of additional server resources, this provides a very capable
work around for all of the problems with mod_perl in a shared hosting
environment. Additionally, we've found that average memory usage for
users of mod_perl is also very light, at least compared to the other
services we offer.
