Yes, I have written the first version of a generic caching layer  
called CHI - works with memcached and FastMmap as well as a  
traditional (but faster) file-based cache. I was going to start  
working on the Mason integration today.

Do I still have to maintain the 1.0 data cache API (http:// 
www.masonhq.com/docs/manual/Devel.html#mason_1_0x_cache_api)? :)
