I'm trying to setup diald, and having problems.

My setup includes my linux machine with a 56k modem, networked to two
workstations. I have IP masquerading setup to route the workstations
IP traffic through the linux server.

If I dial up manually with "ifup ppp0" I connect and get a ppp
connection just fine. All IP works on the linux machine and the two
workstations. If I try to let diald make the connection it doesn't
work properly. Diald sees the outbound IP traffic (from either the
server or one of the workstations) and starts the connect script. It
dials the modem and connects, but that is as far as it gets. A ppp
connection is never established, and I can't do any IP stuff.

When I connect manually I can run "route" and see all my routing
information, but when diald dials route just hangs up and never shows
any information.

I've tried reading everything I can find, I've tried all the
configuration options I can think of. A co-worker here is attempting
the same setup and is having the same problem, does anyone have any
helpful suggestions about what might be causing this to occur?

Brent Herring.
